Drawing upon the Qur’ān, traditions, credos and theological commentaries, together with insight into comparative major faiths, this humble Risāla has been presented as a vehicle (wasīla) for the aspiring learner to attain piety, wisdom and bliss. Dhikru’Llāh, “Remembrance of God”, is not only one of the most fundamental principles in Islamic spirituality, but a theme of central importance that resonates universally with other faiths; its principle and practice is viewed essentially as a foundation of worship by all. The Risāla highlights the close relationship between the devotional practice of remembrance (an antidote against meandering thoughts) and spiritual realisation, pivotal to Islamic esoteric philosophy and in particular, Sufism. An inter-face between obligatory worship and voluntary invocation, drawing the worshipper closer to the Divine. An investigation into the unfolding of the unique and astonishing manifestation of each of Divine Names (Al-Asma Al-Husna) during the current Covid-19 Crisis.
Congratulations Salim, for a very beautiful publication of your book
“Fragrance of Dhikr’ul Allah”.
Beautifully written and very well researched work invoking the spirit of Dhikr as one
reads on.Sentences like, amongst many others,
“At every breadth, the previous breath dies”. How many of us, I wonder relate that to
Allah’s creation, in every moment as we take each breath.
Beautifully put, “Without the soul, the body is like a light without electricity, a
computer without the software, a spacesuit without a body”. So synonymous to a flat
line!
I could go on and on, but one last observation about the magical number 19 in
numerology-- each letter broken down to make the total sum of 19. Amazing!
Thanks Salim, for the awareness invoked to ignite the little flicker inside the reader’s
soul.
May you always remain blessed in Allah’s Blessings and His Rahma. Ameen.
Shukhr!
Allahu Akbar, SubhanAllah. Alhamdullilah
